Ben Henderson: I want to fight all the top ranked lightweights in the same night one-by-one – UFC news
Ben Henderson, the current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, in a recent interview, said he desires to take on each and every top ranked lightweight fighter, adding that whether its Frankie Edgar, Anthony Pettis, or Strikeforce's
Gilbert Melendez, he wants to take them all and in the same night.
Ben, widely known as the ‘Smooth Bendo’, recently acquired the UFC lightweight gold on February 25, 2012 after a brutal showdown in which he collected a unanimous win over Frankie Edgar, the former UFC lightweight champion. Since then every mixed martial
art related individual is eager to know who will be Smooth Ben’s next opponent.
Immediately after the Saitama Super Arena UFC 144 collision, tidings took the media by fire that Edgar is looking forward to avenge his defeat and take back his title but later on Dana White cleared the mist of confusion once and for all. Dana revealed that
he wants Edgar to move down a division and take on Jose Aldo, the current featherweight champion.
In the interview, Ben was as enthusiastic as ever and commented that he needs a bit more time to get ready for any future skirmish adding that his hands were aching, his body and different vital parts were injured but he is getting okay day by day.
Henderson, 28, reiterated that he wants to take on all the big names in the lightweight division whether they brawl in UFC or rule the Strikeforce’s lightweight division; he wants to collide and nail every lethal lightweight to tell the world that he is
the only 155-pounder in UFC who rules the division.
When asked as to who will be his first opponent from Frankie Edgar, Anthony Pettis, and Gilbert Melendez, the American Bendo said, “All of them. Line ‘em up. One after another. Every single one of them. You better believe it. I want to defeat every single
155-pound guy on the roster of the UFC. I wanna beat all of them. I’d take them all on one night. Let's do it. I'm ready to go. I really don't care. It doesn't matter to me.”
Ben continued to explain why he wants to give Frankie a rematch and added, “I don’t wanna be that guy who they say, ‘Oh, Henderson was afraid to give a rematch when he (Edgar) had to give two rematches.’ I don't wanna be the champ who, that’s talked about
or that’s said.”
Ben is currently on a 180 day medical suspension and is looking forward to heal his left foot and right hand injuries. Ben-Frankie bout headlined the UFC 144 pay-per-view and collected the fight of the night award as well.
