Ben Henderson excited over his victory against Frankie Edgar at UFC 150 – UFC News
American mixed martial artist Benson Henderson locked horns with Frankie Edgar in a rematch at UFC 150 past Saturday night. Henderson, who won the title from Edgar earlier this year, was hesitant to defend it against the same fighter, considering Edgar’s
excellent rematch record.
However, after defeating ‘The Answer’, Henderson feels he has passed the phase of doubts and he surely is the best in the division now. It should be noted here Dana White had already announced that whoever loses the showdown will not get a rematch. In this
context, if Henderson had lost, he would not have gotten the chance to avenge his loss.
“I don't know (how closesly this fight will resemble the first). Who's to say? ... All I know is that I intend on having it end the same way, with my hand raised. I do like having the bullseye on my back. I like having the belt around my waist and a bullseye
on my back. It makes me hungry, keeps me hungry, and I'm excited. I like having those challenges,” said Henderson before the fight.
During the show, Henderson dominated Edgar in the first and last round but the former dominated Henderson in the second, third and fourth round. The fight was close but Henderson made it to the mark first, winning via split decision.
For now, Henderson is excited to retain the belt, while Edgar feels dejected since it was his only chance to grab the championship. Henderson will not wait on UFC President Dana White to reveal his plans. The champion will be defending his title soon but
his opponent in yet to be decided.
At UFC 150, Henderson was in excellent shape and he was trying his level best to knock out Edgar but it did not work. Edgar is a tough fighter and he made sure to thrash the champion in the ring, whether he wins or not. In other words, Edgar did give Henderson
the beating of his life but it was not good enough to score him a victory.
Henderson’s next title defence will probably be next year in summer.
