Ben Henderson is a tricky opponent as he is agile and athletic: Frankie Edgar – UFC news
Frankie Edgar, the current Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) lightweight champion, says Henderson is a tough opponent, one that most people fear off most probably because of his agility and athleticism that gives him the benefit of throwing a combination
of good punches and kicks.
Edgar, well known as ‘The Answer’, is scheduled to take on Ben Henderson, the current number one contender for Edgar’s gold. Both men will be in the headline event of UFC’s pay-per-view UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson. The bout is the first since December 2000
when UFC went to Japan to set up its prestigious octagon.
For the last 11 years UFC was unable to get a break into the Asian region and this time they have succeeded in organising a special edition which will take place at Saitama Super Arena situated in Saitama city of Japan. Most of the brawlers in the event
hail from Japan therefore the February 26, 2012 extravaganza will be an apropos opportunity for the world to witness the true Japanese mixed martial art talent.
Edgar and Henderson will take on each other in lightweight division and the bout will have Frankie’s title on the line. Edgar while sharing his thoughts about his upcoming Saturday night opponent said that he has faced many challengers and fighters some
of them have great submission ability and some possess the expertise to knockout their opponent cold but Ben is a complete package.
Frankie remarked that Henderson, infamous as ‘The Bendo or Smooth’, is not an easy guy to handle since his agility, flexibility, resilience, and well-timed targeted attacks make him a lethal brawler as compared to others.
Frankie while praising Ben’s abilities said, “It's tough. You know, a guy like that is really tough to duplicate, as far as training partners go. You get a little mixture of this and that in different guys and you try to prepare the best you can for him. You
know, I think it's just his scrambling ability. He scrambles really well and he's a great athlete. He throws good knees and stuff like that. I don't wanna get caught with one of them, for sure.”
Frankie has been in a total 15 octagon clashes and came out victorious in 14, Ben, on the other hand, has been in a total 17 brawls and came out as a victor in 15. Both men are on a winning streak and have nailed opponents who have created havoc in the division.
