Ben Henderson proud of his rich heritage; faces Frankie Edgar in 2012 – UFC News
Every human being is proud of his/her culture and heritage. It is something close to our heart, which we all respect dearly. Some have a mixed heritage behind their name making them unique individuals. The same cultural heritage
pleases Ben Henderson.
The 28-year old mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter has a rich diverse cultural background, which gives him a sense of pleasure. The former World Extreme Cagefigting’s (WEC) lightweight champion was born in America to an African-American
father and a Korean-American mother.     
Raised in America, he blended well and can speak Korean language to some extent and is happy to have such a cultural background. He has imprinted some tattoos on his body that are part of the Korean language. He got his tattoos
that in English means glory, warrior and power.      
Starting his MMA career in 2006, Henderson fought his first MMA fight at MCF: Genesis in November 2006 against Dan Gregary in Nebraska, USA. He defeated Gregary through submission. Henderson, nicknamed Smooth, has won fifteen fights
in his MMA career with two losses and none of his fights ended in a draw.
Standing in at 5ft 9in, Henderson weighs 155lbs (pounds), Henderson is an able competitor who rose to success in the MMA and UFC ring for his pace and agility in the ring. Henderson won the Undisputed WEC Lightweight Championship
by beating Jamie Varner at WEC 46 in January 2010. 
Henderson has cherished his connection with his rich heritage, which he also expressed while talking to the media. He said "I am very proud to be part-Korean, to have Korean in my blood…I think Koreans have a lot of pride," he
said. "I think that's where I get it from, from my Korean side."
According to reports from UFC officials, Henderson will be facing UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar next year. Their bout, set for the UFC lightweight championship, will take place in February 2012. Henderson is excited to
be part of the fight, as he wants to claim the UFC title to excel his career. Joe Silva, a UFC matchmaker and one of the leading figures in the UFC circuit was the one who confirmed the reports for this bout.
