Dana White, President Ultimate Fighting Championship, recently made a huge announcement and declared that the Ben Henderson-Frankie Edgar II showdown is final and will take place on August 11, 2012 headlining the UFC 150 pay-per-view.
The announcement was made by Dana in a program ‘UFC Tonight’ in which he did not revealed the details of the rest of the fight card or the pay-per-view. This will be the first time that Ben will defend his title and against the man from whom he took it in
the first place.
Ben and Frankie share a small but exciting history as it was Frankie Edgar who was stripped off by Ben in an epic bout on UFC 144 in February 2012. Since then Frankie has been waiting eagerly to put his hands one more time on Ben and now his wish has finally
been granted.
Ben and Frankie headlined the UFC 144 pay-per-view in which the former was defending his lightweight title for the third consecutive time. Henderson, well known as ‘Smooth’ or ‘Bendo’, outclassed the talented Frankie and won the UFC lightweight title for
the very first time in his career.
Henderson is on rest since then and has been waiting for an apropos opponent. Whenever asked as to with whom he wants to collide first, Ben always commented that Frankie must be given a title shot as he deserves it.
The bout will definitely be an epic one since the duo has already put forth the mixed martial art fanatics an impressive and memorable show in their last clash. Therefore, one thing is for sure that the fight would be a thrilling one.
As far as the stats are concerned, Ben, 28, has been in a total 18 bouts and boasts 16 wins. He has nailed just two opponents by knockout, eight by submission and six by either split or unanimous decision.
Frankie, on the other hand, has been in a total 17 bouts and emerged victorious in 14. He has nailed three of his opponent’s by knockout and another three by submission. The 30-year-old has pinned eight men by decision and is famous for fighting in a division

Edgar, well known as ‘The Answer’, has nailed B.J. Penn twice and Gray Maynard once and also boasts wins over Tyson Griffin, Mark Bocek and others. Ben has also nailed many big names in his career such as Clay Guida, Jim Miller and others.
