Ben McGrane and Roz Allen of Netley Sailing Club win RS200 Gul Grand Prix at Stokes Bay Sailing Club
After a splendid performance on the final day, Ben McGrane and Roz Allen of Netley Sailing Club finally made it to the top podium place of the 2011 RS200 Gul Grand Prix, after four races at the Stokes Bay Sailing Club. The pair has taken their first victory
of RS200 circuit and they are really happy with their success.
The 2011 RS200 Gul Grand Prix was scheduled for six races but due to heavy weather conditions, two races were cancelled and only four were used to draw the final result. However, the event was full of thrill as the sailors faced challenging weather conditions.
The breeze built up to 30 knots on the opening day, which came down to 25 knots in the final. However, the forecast did trouble sailors from the start and tested their best sailing skills until the end of the event at Stokes Bay Sailing Club.
Meanwhile, on the final day, McGrane and Allen showed a great deal of determination and grabbed both races of the day to finish the event on top of the podium standings with six points. With a three-point difference, Weir Wood Sailing Club’s David Giles
and Jane Hivey finished at second position with nine points, while Pete Cruickshank and John Teague took third place.
