Ben Phillips joins Nottinghamshire
Nottinghamshire has signed veteran fast bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Phillips-c1138 on a two-year deal from Somerset.
The 36-year-old will take a lot of experience into his new team as he moves to the county champions from one of the club's main rivals. Phillips will play for Nottinghamshire until the end of the 2012
season.

Phillips will bring a lot of things to the Nottinghamshire team that should see him do well with his time at the county. He is now set to finish his career in Nottinghamshire
but has said he would like to return to the South West upon retirement.
Playing attributes
Phillips' biggest quality is his experience. Phillips has taken 238 first class wickets in over 100 matches. This shows his consistency and he'll be able to give some leadership
to younger bowlers at the county.
With Ryan Sidebottom leaving for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867, it was very important for the county to find a consistent bowler. Phillips does not have the pace he once enjoyed but he hits the
right areas routinely. Batting is very difficult against a bowler that can bowl productively in the same place.
Phillips is not a typical lower order batsman and he can offer something higher up the Nottinghamshire order. He has a batting average of just over 20 and a highest score of
100 not out. The more all round players that the county can fit in the team is beneficial because it will increase strength across all areas.
"It was very important that we recruited a bowler who can come into the side and
bowl long spells witch accuracy and control and Ben is capable of doing that," added Newell.
Betting advice
Nottinghamshire is going to find it difficult to defend the county championship crown next season. There are some good sides in division one of the four-day game and Sidebottom's
exit will hurt the side. However, Phillips is capable of taking 10 wickets in any game.
