Ben Revere excited to perform for Philadelphia Phillies in outfield-MLB Update
Recently acquired outfielder by Philadelphia Phillies, Ben Revere, is ready to put up regular performances for the club next year. He is aware of the role that he is supposed to carry out.
He is equally conscious of the challenges ahead and how to meet them.
As the Phillies look to restore their diminishing dominance in the National League East, the upcoming season is extremely significant in this regard.
Another poor season from their part may result in drastic changes.
For example, the spot of a number of players in the team will be at risk then. A complete restructuring of the club may become indispensable, due to fierce backlash from the fans.
Furthermore, the scapegoats in the team will be the worst sufferers. Becoming the one is the last thing that Revere wants.
When one looks into Revere’s career stats, it is easy to believe he can avoid being the fans’ punching box. He has the reputation of connecting hits regularly as is indicated by his .294 batting average in 2012.
Besides, his speed can help him a lot in scoring a great number of runs and making the most of the hits struck by the batters at the plate.
The enthusiasm and the energy that he produces both in the field and while running across the bases, can make him one of the most fascinating players to watch for the fans.
Revere has drawn a relationship between the defence and the possibility of wins by the pitchers. He is of the view that making fine plays in the field is such an important thing that hurlers’ win-loss records depend heavily on them.
"Those guys look at me and say, 'Catch the balls out there and help me win another Cy Young,'" said Revere. "Defense wins championships. I know they want to get back to that. I believe that I'll do the best I can to catch it for those guys, so we can be
best friends even more and become even closer."
Certainly, living up to the expectations under pressure will not be easy for Revere.
Fans will be hoping to see the best of him coming off in the field during the season.
