Ben Revere’s double RBIs help Minnesota Twins beat Cleveland Indians 3-2 – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins’ out-fielder, Ben Revere had a remarkable day with his bat as he went 3-for-5 and scored one run including two RBIs in the Twins’ 3-2 victory against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field, Cleveland on June 8.
The first two innings were score-less for both the teams as the batters committed some errors in playing accurate shots and got out. In the third inning, the Twins opened their scoring account by posting one run and took a 1-0 lead. Revere singled to centre-field
and Luke Hughes scored a first run for the Twins.
The score-card remained empty in the fourth and fifth inning as the pitchers threw the ball in perfect areas and controlled the scoring shots of the batters. The Twins’ starter, Carl Pavano threw economically right through his seven inning pitches as he
pitched the ball with an ERA of 4.54 and permitted one run on seven hits including one earned run. Pavano struck-out three batters and gave just one walk on his 110 pitches.
During the sixth inning, both the teams contributed one run to move the score-card 2-1. Justin Morneau doubled to deep right-centre and Revere posted one run. On the other hand, Grady Sizemore hit a one-run homer (380 feet) towards left-field to cut their
shortfall. Michael Brantley was unable to add a run for the Indians but went 3-for-5.
Brantley said, “We're not getting the big hits. It's not a secret. I've got to do a better job of getting big hits and so does everybody. We have to put some hits together at the same time. We're getting hits sporadically, but you have to put them together.”
No run was added during the seventh and eighth inning but the Indians tied the game 2-2 by scoring one run in the ninth inning. Jack Hannahan struck a tie homer (393 feet) to right centre-field. In the additional 10th inning, the Twins went ahead
3-2 when Drew Butera posted a single run on the drive of Revere off the left-field.
The Indians’ manager, Manny Acta was disappointed and said, “What comes around goes around. Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong.”
At the end of the 10th inning, Revere advanced to third base on the throwing error of Brantley.
