Ben Spies anticipates making it to the finish line at the Malaysian Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Ben Spies of Yamaha Factory Racing managed attaining 6th grid position in the qualifying round of the Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang circuit.
He told that they had good pace earlier in the session but they are looking forward to making it to the finish line during the race. The Yamaha rider accepted that they lacked pace during the qualifying round.
The Yamaha Factory Racing rider believes that qualifying round was good as they had impressive race in the session however they were unable to complete an impressive fast lap in the qualifying round.
Spies said, “Qualifying was good, we had good pace in early in the session but when it came down to putting in that one fast lap we didn’t quite have enough.”
The Yamaha rider has turned cautious because he has been unlucky in the last few races as he was unable to make it to the finish line. He told that he was trying to make clean laps. The riders, overall, believe that the layout of the circuit is challenging
and it is anticipated to be a hard race at the Malaysian circuit.
“We also wanted to bring the bike back in one piece and not a broken one like we’ve done a few times this year. We’re looking forward to tomorrow and getting stuck into the race,” he added.
In the 3rd practice session of the Malaysian GP he registered the 6th fastest lap of the session and remained consistent in the qualifying round.
Spies has only been able to finish 2 out of the last 6 race he started. The unlucky period became prominent after he announced retirement from the Yamaha Factory Racing team. In the last Japanese Grand Prix he crashed after completing 1 lap of the race whereas
in the Aragon Grand Prix he managed finishing at the 5th position after starting from the 4th grid.
Although he has announced retirement from the Yamaha Factory Racing yet he told that he will try his best in the remainder of the season. Let’s see how the Yamaha rider performs in the upcoming Malaysian GP.
