Ben Spies of Yamaha Factory Racing is pleased to finish the Italian Grand Prix at the Misano circuit after three consecutive crashes.
The achievement provides him the pleasure as if he has attained a podium in the Italian circuit.
He believes that making it to the finish line was very significant for him and it feels as if he had attained a podium, although they were unable to give their 100% over the circuit. The American rider told that they struggled with the front tyre and their
start was not impressive.
Spies said, “I know we didn’t get on the podium but I’m glad we were able to finally just have a normal race. Some of the times weren’t quick enough for the podium but we put on a good charge in the end.”
Spies was able to finish the Italian GP at the 5th position, after starting the race at the 8th grid, the fastest speed he achieved on the track was 159.4 km/h. The American rider finished the race with a gap of 7.543 seconds from his teammate and the winner
of the race, Jorge Lorenzo. He told that the weekend was difficult and they were not satisfied with the performance of their bike.
“We struggled with a few things, especially some feeling with the front tyre. It’s been a difficult weekend and we didn’t start the race with the perfect set up but luckily could still put together an ok race. After what’s happened in the last eight weeks
it almost feels like a podium for me!” he said.
Ben Spies has signed a contract with Pramac Satellite Team for the next 2013 season. He announced his decision of parting with Yamaha Factory Racing prior to the United States Grand Prix, since then he was unable to finish any race he had started until the
