  1. You are all going crazy over this Ben Spies! I hope he is worth it! ;)

As far as i got it, he is AMA rider, right? With this in mind I would say that he wouldn't do better than 1:29 but he won't probably go worse than 1:35. You say he's good, and I believe ya :)

I wonder how the rain's gonna suit him. I'm sure he'll be doing better in the other races and Donnington is a tough track.

  2. hey there proc

i cant wait to see ben aboard the suzuki at donnington, but i feel he will be low 1:30's having never ridden here i hope he does surpass my expectations , but only time will tell. This weekend cant come quick enough to see ben in action and more importantly JT to hopefully bag a podium. We are in line for another fabulous weekends racing bring it on i for one cant wait.

  3. ATTENTION : Dingo / A.Nik & C.H

You have all received your " Top Secret Ben Spies " Learning pack emails.

This guy is fast. He might not go all guns blazing from the get - go , but mark my words............. this guy is the next U.S MotoGP World Champ.

He is really smooth and will not be rushed.

There is no getting away from the fact, Donny is a [very] hard track to ride. I have had the pleasure in doing 100's of track day laps there and still cant hit the same breaking markers or apex's every time / every lap.

However, Ben Spies is not me ( thanks f**k for that !!! )

Ben Spies is a master. He broke Mladn's 6 x AMA title record. He will do really well in MotoGP.

As for times, I hope ( weather allowing ) Ben will be in the low 1:30 's for race time and high 1:29 for qual's .

Dont forget, the dude has never used qual's before, so that will be a shock to the system.

All I can say is, I will be shouting at my monitor for :

    1) To52land..... then

    2) Rossi..... then

    3) Spies.

All after I have lost my voice for shouting for Bradley Smith in the 125 [ mad man ] race !!

  4. ben will struggle he is on a different bike and tire

Here in the AMA he's used to having the winning tire that he can push in the corners like no other rider but Mladin

I pick him about 15th at race time

Niel Hodgson came to the AMA and learned the tracks on different tires and was top 5  Now that's talent

  5. Hi proc

Although I rate Ben as a real talent, I can't see him doing sub 1:30's consistently in the dry. Donington is a tricky circuit to learn, and he's had very little time on the bike.

I think he'll be using this as a bit of a break in period getting used to the bike before Laguna where he needs to shine (his possible future Moto Gp career depends on it)

I doubt he'll be pushing it to the limit, he has too much to loose with Laguna in a months time. Plus he still has the rest of the AMA season to think about. (Just look what happens to rookies, ie Lorenzo when they try too hard). I would liken Bens talent as similar to JT. But JT had a whole winters testing before he started to go fast.

Add to that the fact that the Suzuki isn't the most competitive package out there at the moment, then I'll stick to my prediction that he'll be lucky to break into the top 15.

If I'm wrong then feel free to gloat and say "na na na na naa!! Told you so!"

Are you gonna be there on Sunday?

Edit: Weds......Looks like it's gonna rain. The results gonna be a lottery anyway. Roll on Sunday. I'll take my brolly.

  6. Hey Proc,

I think you may be right - but as "I know naatheeng" about this fella - I will defer to your experience and enthusiasm.

    Roll on Sunday - eh?
