Ben Spies says he is positive for the rest of the current 2012 season – MotoGP news
Ben Spies of Yamaha Factory Racing completed the test on second day of private test session at Aragon. His main focus was to improve the fork and shock settings of the bike. Along with the fork and shock settings they concentrated more on the end of the
race.
He said that they worked on the race distance of the bike and did a race simulation. He added that they concentrated more towards the end of the race during the test session.
Spies said, “We basically tested the bike over race distance and did a race simulation, and set the bike up more for the end of the race.”
Furthermore, he said that they worked on different fork and shock settings. He added that the settings were based on electronics but the changes they made were not major. Besides, he said that it was just some fine tuning with the bike.
“We worked on some different fork and shock settings. A little bit of electronics but nothing major, just fine tuning with the bike. It seems ok and I’m positive for the rest of the year,” the American said.
Moreover, he said he is satisfied with his Yamaha machine and is positive about the remainder of the season.
During the privately conducted test session he was ranked 4th in terms of his fastest lap during the session. He completed his fastest lap in 1 minute and 48.946 seconds.
Spies has faced several issues over the last three grands prix he started. He has been unable to finish the three races due to those issues. He has announced that he will not be continuing with Yamaha in the next 2013 season. He has also unveiled that he
will be breaking news about his next step very soon.
Spies has worked with two teams in his career of MotoGP. He started his MotoGP career with Suzuki in 2008. He started 3 races scored 20 points. Later in 2009 he joined Yamaha and made only 1 start. In 2010 and 2011 he attained 176 championship points. However,
in the current 2012 season he has not been able to attain more than 66 points until now.
