Ben Spies says he will be breaking news about his next step this week – MotoGP news
Ben Spies of Yamaha Factory Racing completed the first day of private test session at Aragon. He revealed that he will be breaking news about his next step in the next 2013 season.
The American rider completed his fastest lap during the first day of the privately held test session in 1 minute and 48.647 seconds. The main area he targeted for improvement was the setup of the machine, tyre wearing out distance and the qualifying lap
settings.
He said that they have a lot of different settings with the bike. The different settings they have are with front end, forks and he tried to get more comfortable with hard braking. He added that they have some more parts to try on the second day of test.
Spies said, “We have a lot of different settings with the bike. Mainly with the front-end, with the forks, to get me a little bit more comfortable with the hard braking. We’ve equalled our fastest lap time over here this morning quite easily. We have some
more test parts for tomorrow.”
Talking about his decision related to the next 2013 season he said, “Everybody will know something this week.”
Spies has announced that he will not be signing a contract with Yamaha for the next 2013 season. He has not yet announced his decision for the next. His decision is much awaited as he announced his retirement from Yamaha on the eve of United States Grand
Prix at Laguna Seca on July 26th, 2012.
The American rider has stated that his main focus will be aimed towards the remainder of the season however, after he has announced his retirement from Yamaha, he has not been able to finish any race since then. He has been unable to finish the Czech Republic
Grand Prix and the Indianapolis Grand Prix.
The clutch of his bike was heating up at the Czech Republic GP and was not giving its 100%. It initially dropped him to the 14th position. He made a comeback to the 8th position but he crashed unfortunately.
Let’s see which team he joins for the next 2013 season and how lucky it proves for him.
