Ben Spies signs his 2013 contract with Pramac Racing Team – MotoGP news
Ducati has announced its new contract with Ben Spies and Andrea Iannone for the next 2013 MotoGP season.
It also renewed its partnership with the Pramac Racing Team, continuing with the management of the Satellite team.
It is reported that the new riders will be provided with the official equipment of Ducati, whereas the Ducati factory team will be represented by Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden as announced earlier.
The agreement further includes that the riders will support their team to improve the performance of the Italian team in accordance with the Desmosedici MotoGP project. In the next 2013 season Spies and Iannone will be racing for Pramac.
The decision of Ben Spies was much awaited as he announced his retirement from Yamaha Factory Racing prior to the United States Grand Prix. He was unable to finish the last three races he had started at the Mazda, Indianapolis and Brno circuits. The incidents
he faced were anticipated to be linked with his bad luck by many spectators and it was also forecasted by some people that he may move back to Superbike championship.
The other rider for Pramac Racing Team, Iannone, will be starting his new career after exhibiting impressive performances at the private test conducted at Mugello.
Iannone holds an impressive record in the Moto2 championship. He attained 3rdposition in the 2011 Moto2 championship with 177 points.
Hector Barbera, currently racing for Pramac Racing Team has been unable to finish any race among the top five positions in the current 2012 season. He will be returning to the Misano circuit after six weeks due to the injury he faced during the training
session of United States Grand Prix.
Ben Spies will be replaced by Valentino Rossi in Yamaha Factory Racing for the next season. The 7 times champion wants to ride Yamaha which he believes is faster than that of Ducati.
Let’s see how the shuffling of riders turns out to be in the next season. Although record of Ducati in the current season is not very impressive but the Italian team has signed a contract with Audi and it will re-organise its departments to get the most
out of the ally.
