Ben Spies thinks 2012 French Grand Prix can rebuild his confidence – MotoGP news
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Ben Spies thinks that the forthcoming 2012 French Grand Prix can rebuild his confidence and will provide help to improve his performance after an unfortunate start of the season.
Spies came 11th in the season opener held at Losail Circuit in Qatar and secured the same position in the second race at Jerez Circuit in Spain. Nonetheless, there was a slight improvement in his pace in the third race held at Estoril Circuit in Portugal
where he managed to secure 8th place finish.
The American rider expressed that he is aiming to boost up his pace in the upcoming race while he said that he will make the best of his efforts to secure a competitive finish.
“I'm looking forward to getting back on the bike again this week,” Spies said. “My confidence has been rebuilding well now we've found a good set-up that works so I think we can make another step and improve our performance. It's not my favourite track but
I'm going to give it 100 per cent as always to achieve a good result.”
On the other hand, his teammate, Jorge Lorenzo has performed incredibly well as he took an impressive victory in the first race and secured second podium finishes in the last two races. Furthermore, the Spaniard is aiming to claim the championship title
this year as he is only one point behind the leading rider, Casey Stoner of Repsol Honda.
Over and above, the team principal of Yamaha, Massimo Meregalli said that he is feeling positive that their struggling rider, Spies will also be at the front in Le Mans on this Sunday.
“Last year was not a perfect weekend for Yamaha, a track where traditionally we have been very strong. This year we arrive with a very competitive package so we are confident that we can perform well,” Meregalli said.
Besides, he said that Spies has been facing difficulties in the season so far with finding his true pace. However, he said that they are hopeful for the upcoming races as all the team members are striving at their best to provide him with the most reliable
bike.
