Ben Stokes reminds me of young Pietersen, says Darren Stevens – Cricket News Update
Darren Stevens, the Kent all-rounder, has compared the rising young batsman of Team England, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806, and backed the former to shine on the International stage by capitalising the ideal opportunity of the
ongoing ODI series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and England.
Stevens argues that Stokes can earn a fair name in competitive cricket very soon, as the young lad possesses excellent batting skills along with good experience of the English County Cricket.
Talking to the media today, Stevens said, “I think he is a fabulous player. He reminds me of a young Pietersen. KP was a bully and Stokes is similar; he is a big lad and he has an aura when he stands there.”
Stokes has been included in the team’s ODI squad as a substitute of Pietersen who has been rested in the ongoing 5-ODI series.
The 20-year-old left hander made his International debut some days back in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751. In the opening game of the current series on September 3, he could not get chance to bat as rain interrupted the play.
Stokes is now geared up to show his mettle in the 2nd ODI, that is scheduled to be held today at the Rose Bowl.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stevens-c91368 believes that Stokes will remain fit and on the top of the game for a long period of time as he poses to be an aggressive player.
He told, “He stands there and hits the ball so hard for a young lad. For his sake, I hope he can stay fit because he is a sensational player. For him, if he can stay fit and get his bowling going, it just gives him that extra string to his banjo."
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802 cricketer is of the view that young guys like Stokes are a source of hope for the national selectors who have a lot of options at their helm to select from for the national team. He postulates that if such players continue to grow up, English cricket
will dominate the world in the future.
