Ben Woollaston disappointed at his defeat against Ding Junhui in 2012 China Open
English potter, Ben Woollaston had it all in his hands when he went 4-0 ahead of the 2012 Welsh Open winner from China, Ding Junhui but unfortunately after that he was not able to add a single frame win to steal the game. The Leicester potters is quite disappointed
on losing a certain victory at the hands of Junhui in the first round of 2012 China Open snooker tournament.
It was obvious that the crowd present at the Beijing University Students Gymnasium arena would be behind Junhui as he was the local favourite and the Englishman was under immense pressure because of the fact that Junhui has home advantage over him. Despite
that, he played outstandingly in the first session of the match and nudged his opponent 4-0 down firing some classy knocks of 61 and 55 during his campaign.
The World Number 52 was quite excited after he grabbed four frame lead over the Chinese at the end of Session 1. He was hopeful to win the match and beat Junhui for the first time in his career as he needed only one frame to trash the Welsh Open winner.
But all his hopes ended when the Chinese Sensation sprang back into the competition with some outstanding game play and hit the victory 4-5.
Speaking to World Snooker after his loss, Woollaston said, “I should have won. I had a few chances to win. The interval obviously made a difference, and I just wasn't the same player afterwards. It's probably the biggest match I've played in. But the atmosphere,
it would never happen in the UK. I'm used to people shouting out for the other player when I miss.”
The 24-year-old added, “But when I miss it's quite hard, they sort of cheer. It's a funny atmosphere. I knew what it would be like, but it's still difficult. It's like a circus. I think Ding finds it difficult to concentrate, and sometimes I think he's a
bit embarrassed by the behaviour of the crowd.”
Meanwhile, the Star of the East, Junhui has successfully moved into the second round of the tournament where he will be meeting the World Number one, England’s Mark Selby at the same venue.
