Ben nye make up kit?

how do you like it? i'm looking into it. i do lots of theatre. i will not be cast in cats or have crazy make up like that. i'm in shows like annie get your gun and music man.

how does this makeup kit work and how do you like it?

Ben Nye is a great all purpose kit.  I use it when I teach Stage Makeup.  It has reasonable colors and is very mixable -- be sure to get the kit in your color range and gender.  The Kit comes with everything you need except instructions... hope you will have the opportunity to take a Stage Makeup class because then you'll understand why you need a special makeup for the stage.

You really cannot use a street-type makeup on stage because of the intensity of the lighting.  Stage makeup like Nye and others have higher pigmentation and don't tend to wash out under intense lighting.

The one other writer here mentioned that it is "hard to get off".  Not really if you use something like baby-wipes... remember what it is intended to take off and that it is intended to be used on baby's bottoms, and you get the picture -- it's easy on the skin and gets s**t off -- baby wipes are your friend.

Although it has been a while since I needed it, I can probably locate a hand out I created to use with an opera cast that I didn't have time to individually train how to put on their makeup. So if you'd like to email me I can send you the handout... and try to answer questions on how to use the kit and what that weird black piece of foam is for.

It's pretty easy it contains:

Cream foundation

Cream rouge/blush

Highlight cream

Shadow cream

Lip-color

Face powder

Flat brush (for items listed from rouge to lip color)

Eye-liner pencil (which is also used as an eyebrow pencil)

Stipple sponge (not sure what the use)

and a

Sponge applicator (use for rouge and foundation).

It's very easy to use but it's a real pain to get off.

But it works really well for drama in school because it doesn't have to be professional make-up. I actually don't think I really use it that much in school either because the make-up makes me break-out a lot so I don't use it unless I forget my other make-up stuff at home. I use Mary Kay foundation because the Ben Nye foundation makes me break out. I like it all but the foundation.
