  1. The truth is that you can be allergic to anything. It may not be the specific medications causing the reaction, but other things like the gel in the capsules or dyes that are used to color the products so that they appear more appealing. If you need an antihistamine because of itching after you take over-the-counter medications, you may want to contact your doctor so see if he/she will prescribe you one that has fewer additives than over-the-counter medications. If you still have the itching, you may need something like Prednisone if the antihistamine is absolutaly nessesary. Otherwise you may be unlucky and have to suffer it out. Good luck.

  2. I do if there is codeine in it

  3. Usually Benadryl is used to stop itching rather than causing it. However, some people can have allergic reactions to it. Most commonly, a rash will develop or a fever. or sometimes swelling might cause difficulty breathing.

  4. yes it does. ive tried it before

  5. The allergies I have are life threatening. I have been on steroids, shots and so many different meds, that I have found I am allergic to 15 allergy pills themselves. Benedryl is the only one I found to calm reactions to make them bearable. I cannot take the blue ones or the solid pink ones or they will cause more of a reaction. I have to take the ones that are pink and white in capsules with the red ring around it. I have experienced hives taking over my whole body from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet and everywhere in between. The only help I found for itching and burning was vicks vapor rub. I hope this will help. Plus, get some allergy tests done, you might be surprised to find out what you are really allergic to.
