Arsenal’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yossi-Benayoun-c37520 believes that it was crucial for the Gunners to beat Manchester City, since it would help the team ensure Champions League football for the coming season.
The North London club took on City in the Premier League, in a game that was bound to get the best out of both the teams.
However, once the game kicked off, it became clear that Arsenal were the more determined team out of the two.
Three post hits and one goal later, which was scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mikel-Arteta-c25715, the Gunners went on to pick up all three points from the game.
At the same time, the win for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 saw City drop eight points behind Manchester United and in theory, the Red side of Manchester is now more than likely to pick up the league title.
Despite the impact that the result has on City, Benayoun was more focused on the consequences the win would have on the Gunners.
The Israeli international believes the North London club are now one step closer to ensuring a top four finish and all that they really need to do, is avoid having any slip ups in the future.
Benayoun is quoted to have said: "It was a big win and a very important three points in the race for the Champions League spots. Especially against a big side like Manchester City so we are delighted with the win.”
"We had a good run before QPR, seven games, and then we had a bad game, so we had to react against a strong team and we deserved the three points because from the first minute you only saw one team on the pitch.”
"Not only before the game did Tottenham get a point but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 got three and Newcastle too. Everybody is talking about Chelsea and us but Newcastle are doing so well.”
It is now going to be a wait till the end of the season to see just who ends up claiming the Champions League spots and whether Arsenal finish in the third spot or not, given the competition that is building up in the league for a top four finish.
