Bench press advice??

i was benching yesterday and this guy came up to me and said that since i wasnt taking the bar all the way down to my chest i wouldnt be working all the muscles in my chest is this TRUE?

  1. You know this is embarrasing to me but I don't know.  I have always benched touching the chest with the bar.

  2. I don't believe what the guy said. It's not a matter of working all the muscles but more maximizing the work the muscle performs.

  3. yes it is tru, there are muscles in your chest, attached to the shoulders, that are not worked unless you press all the way to your chest. However you will look buff with only goin down to 90 degree angle at elbow, you will just be underutilizing your muscles, hoped that helped

  4. To really work all the muscle technically the bar is supposed to almost bounce off you chest. But do not and I repeat do not! lock your arms or stop because once you go down again you'lll lose allyourr momentum from before and it will be impossible to go back up.
