Bend/Redmond and surrounding areas OREGON?

My husband and I are planning a move to the Bend area in late may to late June. Im wondering about work over there? Prefferably mills. He has 2 1/2 years experience on a number of mill positions. How is housing? Specifically 3 bdrm houses? Who is the electric company over there? Are there many drug and gang problems? How much is your gas? Please tell me everything you can think of.

Check out the local EDD office when you get there for jobs.  Mills are not doing well.  There is a glut of 3 bdrm houses on the amrekt but it is still relatively expensive comapred to most of the US.  Cheaper than California though.
