Sunderland’s Danish striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726 has revealed that he is not comfortable playing with a mask on, as it impairs his vision.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player suffered a nose injury on the 21st January in a Premier League match against Swansea City and he now wears a mask which covers his eyes and nose. However, the player mentioned that he is finding it difficult to view the
ball and sometimes he loses possession because of this problem.
“I can’t even see with it on. I give the ball away sometimes because I can’t see,” Bendtner said.
However, the player said that he is looking to take off the mask as soon as possible.
“I will be wearing it on Tuesday [against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043] and then taking it off for Saturday.” He said.
The injury occured after the Swans defender, Angel Rangel’s boot caught Bendtner’s face. At that time, the Black Cats manager Martin O’ Neill described the player’s injury to be pretty serious.
However, the player from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 on Saturday and helped his side to a 3-1 victory.
“I think it was my first header on target [against QPR] that I have had wearing the mask, but it didn’t hurt.”
The 24 year old came to Sunderland on a one year loan spell from Arsenal last summer. Since his move, he has made 23 appearances for the Black Cats and scored 6 times, including 3 goals in his last 5 matches. He scored one for Sunderland in a tense Tyne-Wear
derby match, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Sunderland will take on Everton in the FA Cup quarterfinal match on Tuesday and Bendtner admitted that it was a huge occasion for his side.
“I am at [Sunderland] right now. We have a good team and a good manager. It could end on a real high with us just being a game away from Wembley.”
Sunderland will be bidding for their first visit to Wembley since 1998. The quarterfinal will be a replay match, after both the teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park two weeks earlier.
