Benedikt Howedes claimed that Dortmund certainly have immense quality in their squad and admitted that it will be a very difficult game for the two sides involved. The defender added that the home side will have the advantage as
they will have the backing of the fans, but is confident that his team will put up a great fight.
The German international insisted that it could be anybody’s game and stressed on the importance of getting something from the game as losing all three points would make it difficult for them in the remaining course of the campaign.
“BVB have enormous quality. We must stand strong and compact defensively and to present ourselves as a collective. This game starts at zero. But of course we are confident because we are looking good. Dortmund are clearly strong,”
he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The 24-year-old claimed that his side has the utmost respect for the opposition, but stated that the team fears nobody. The centre-back is eager to put in an improved performance and wants to get a good result for his side so they
can challenge for the honours in the remaining Bundesliga games.
“But we must not hide and hope to take points. We have respect for Dortmund, but don’t fear them in anyway,” he concluded.
Benedikt Howedes has thus far made 115 league appearances for the Veltins-Arena outfit and has scored seven times for the Royal Blues. The player also has nine international caps to his name and is widely considered as one of the
best defenders in the country.
