The Schalke centre-back is keen to remain the captain of the team despite an injury plagued campaign last term.

Howedes added that he always tries to help the young players in the team so that they remain motivated. He is confident of a successful season ahead and is targeting success.
“I am not a captain who shouts, but I talk a lot. I am the contact point, especially for the younger players, and of course a link to the coach,” he concluded.
