Beneficial weeds for the garden

Question

Does anyone else out there allow certain weeds to grow in their garden? I prefer purslane with its waxy stems and leaves and non invasive ground cover properties. Dandelions look pretty but must be topped to avoid seed production. Are there any other slow spreading weeds out there that you have found to be desirable?

wild violets would be good, good ground cover, attracts butterflies. However, I'm a bit confused on why weeds?
