Benefit of Porter may make a solid comeback in the Family Fun Racedays at Leopardstown Handicap
Family Fun Racedays at Leopardstown Handicap will take place today, on 28th
March, 2012, at Leopardstown. The track is good to firm, and it will cover a distance of 1 mile and 6 furlongs for a purse of €6,900.
Benefit of Porter may be able to comeback with full force in this race. She will be competing against Leah Claire, Korabushka, Paramount, Tantalising, Table Forty Six, Regal Tramp, Sky Pilot, Yellow Rock, Run With The Wind, Kims Dream and One Cool
Shabra.
Trained by Patrick Sinnott for owner, J.V. Redmond, the mare is looking in good form and may start her season with a victory. The daughter of Beneficial, out of mare Porter Tastes Nice, will be competing in her seasonal debut today.
Her previous season had ups and downs, but it started off in an impressive manner. Under jockey Mr. N .J. Redmond, the eight-year-old mare stood third in the Elvis Tribute Show Mares Hurdle at Downpatrick on 20th May, 2011.
She raced as a joint favourite with odds of 100 to 30 in the Waterford & Tramore Directors (Ladies) Maiden at Tramore on 4th June, 2011, where she finished as a runner-up, narrowly defeated by, Apt Manor, by 1 ¼ lengths. Towards
the end of the season, her performances started lacking the same quality which she demonstrated in the beginning of the season.
She finished fourth in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund September Handicap (Premier Handicap) at Curragh on 10th September, 2011. This time teamed with R.A. Doyle, she began well, but lost pace, and she continued
to race but did not pose a threat to the leaders.
In today’s race, she will be mounted by D.P. McDonogh, who may succeed in guiding her towards victory.
Leah Claire may be an obstacle in Benefit of Porter’s way. The six-year-old mare already started her season in an impressive manner, as she finished as a runner-up missing first place by 1 ¼ lengths, which was acquired by Citizenship in the Grade
B Boylesports.com Hurdle at Leopardstown on 28th January, 2012.
Owned by F.A McNulty, the daughter of Tomba, out of mare Kate Emily, is trained by Matthieu Palussiere. She has the benefit of racing on this track before. Her last race of the season which took place on 28th December, 2011,
also took place here, where she entered the Mongey Communications Novice Handicap Hurdle with odds of 8 to 1 and stood third.
With Leah Claire’s impressive performances and good start to the season, she may challenge Benefit of Porter’s run to victory. Benefit of Porter’s return may bring her lost glory back, provided she races with a newfound determination in today’s race.
