Will running help you lose weight or will it more so just build muscle and stuff like that? What is good exercise that helps more with weight loss?

  1. Running will help you burn fat [which will eventually lead to weight loss] and it will build muscle and strong bones. Just make sure you don't overdo it.

    If you're a beginner you should try going running 2 times a week, 1 mile.

    If you're experienced I would suggest you should go running 5 times a week, 3 miles.

    I know this because I'm on my school's cross country and track team.

    In order to build large muscle size exercises must be explosive in nature. Long distance running does not require explosive power therefore it does not build large muscles.

    Running does however allow you to burn calories and trains your your body to do so even at rest. If you run 30 minutes a day, five days a week you can see great benefits from it. This includes controlling your weight in a healthy way.

    If you decide that running does not agree with you - you can get similar benefits from these exercises:

    Bicycling

    Elliptical trainer

    Swimming

    Step aerobics

    Rowing

    Rock climbing

    Walking

    Handball
