  1. Honestly?  I cannot think of a single one.  Higher taxes?  More welfare (I view that as a bad thing)?  More unemployment?  Even greater deficit spending in Washington (than we have currently)?  People will tell you that the Dem.s are all about "civil Rights" and social change.  I would be quick to counter that every Civil Rights bill that has been signed into law was done so by a Republican lead Congress, with the Democrats kicking and screaming all of the way.  And as for "social" change I again view their programs as enslavement of the masses.  Those programs don't help people to get ahead, they only encourage them to become dependent upon big brother government.  Their measure of success is not in seeing how many can be made self-sufficient.  Instead, it's purely in seeing how many they can get enrolled.  By taxing the day-lights out of those who are successful, you are discouraging economic growth.  By supporting organized labor (read unions), you are raising the cost of production and in turn, inflation.  Consider this, prior to WW I, the average mortgage was paid off in one year.  Between the wars (as labor unions began taking hold) that average jumped to seven years.  From WW II through the 1950s, it jumped again to fifteen years and by the 1960s when labor unions were running into their fullest glory, mortgages jumped yet again.  This time it jumped to the unimaginable time span of 30 years!  While labor was not solely to blame, it did drive up the cost of production and services.  Business profit margins and overhead are not statically matched, both are frought with greed.  Now we have numerous labor laws to protect the workers from wiley business owners.  But who is to protect the owners and the consumers?  Certainly not the Democrats.

So, I apologize.  As a degreed person who started with nothing and is now a successful business owner/capitalist, from where I stand, I see no good from that end of the spectrum.

  2. Their will be no benefits for middle class.Democrats are notorious for welfare programs, but someone has to pay for all the freebies, and guess who does? The middle class working tax payer.I can't afford to keep up people who will not work.

  3. The democrats are the party of the workers or laborers and most of them fall in the middle class. The republicans are the party of the super rich. It's no wonder that the needs of both groups are often at odds with each other. There needs to be a balance. The problem with the system as I see it and many others do too that the corporate interests are overriding the needs of the people. In some cases our government has been encouraging with financial incentives for jobs to locate overseas. Do you find that suspicious?

By voting democratic, you are ensuring that your concerns as a middle class citizen will be addressed because they will not be addressed by the republicans. You can see that by looking at the past 8 years. The middle class is dying. If you are looking for a guarantee then you won't find it. It's not that simple. Both sides are fighting and it's been skewed to the right. The democrats and the republicans have not been working for the people. You can see evidence of that in your daily life I'm sure. Government affects everything. They really do. Sometimes you have to think about it to see how it does it. It's not always so obvious. The republicans think we need less government (but they do not practice it) and the democrats think we need the right kind of government (keep people honest). We need regulations for business. It's just a fact and a cost of doing business. It benefits consumers and businesses. But of course we need the right kind of regulations that protect consumers and businesses from unfair and deceptive practices essentially.

The democrats are smart, hard working, and work for the greater good. They are not just doing it for the money. They believe in what they speak. But it's hard to say this 100% though because of the voting record of a lot of them.

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that the republicans are not looking out for the middle class and never have. They are only about themselves. It is a dangerous philosophy but they are banking on Americans' ignorance. They don't think Americans are all that smart at making the right connections. I'm 34. I just finished my MBA. I have people in my life that seem to know a lot about politics. I've been immersed in political discussions my entire life. I hear both sides.

I'm trying to be helpful and thoughtful here. Both sides have problems but I'm done voting for the republicans unless the democratic candidate is really pathetic. Because voting Republican hasn't gotten me anywhere and I've noticed that I've done better under Democrats. I live in Massachusetts. The democrats have done a lot for us and the republicans have done a lot of damage.

edit: I'll further add that I'm not looking for a hand out but rather maybe a hand up. We need more opportunities and jobs. We need a thriving economy and Bush hasn't given us one. We are spending billions in Iraq. We have sent billions to China. We are regressing and we need to turn things around because we owe it to ourselves and future generations.

  4. Well there's... uh.. er...

    Nothing I can think of.

While "free" health care might sound good, the fact is that in the long run, it eats up government budgets, necessitating increases in taxes.

While taxing businesses and rich folks and profits and capital gains might please the class envy some people revel in, the fact is that all of these taxes reduce economic growth, reducing employment as well as causing investment to flee to other countries that don't punish economic success.

While increasing the minimum wage might sound sensible to some, the fact is that increasing the cost of unskilled labor only reduces the employment of unskilled laborers, or causes the increase in prices a business must charge its customers. Neither is economically beneficial.

They also talk about increasing spending on schools (most of which will go to teacher pensions, btw), where's that money going to come from?

They talk about "free" pre-school, where's that money going to come from?

They oppose increased drilling for oil and natural gas, they oppose building more nuclear plants and oil refineries, they oppose shale oil processing, they prevent mining of clean coal in the US - so where is all our near-term and long-term energy going to come from? Our use is increasing - how will it be supplied? Even if we harness the hot air from Dem politicians, that would not fulfill all our needs.

Seriously, I do not see the Dems offering any benefits to the middle class.

  5. Obama's tax plan offers more tax cuts for most of the middle class.

  6. Nationalized health care, education, spending money on environmental jobs, clean energy, no more outsourcing, better unions, better economy.
