I have been talking to a recruiter for a few days now. Took my asvab. Scored an 81. Have a BS. He is trying to get me to enlist but I have been told not to enlist. I was not aware that you can go straight to OCS. Am I right or wrong?

  1. Depends what you want but if your fit you could get into OCS within 6 months or something like that, not to sure since I'm doing PLC, but thats the general consensus I get from candidates in your position.  Go to marineocs.com and you can get any question you have about becoming an officer.  I would also recommend contacting an officer selection office instead of some recruiter, I kind of got the same thing from an enlisted recruiter, but the oso is very straight forward and wont chase you like a used car salesman.

As far as benefits go, higher pay, more managerial type positions, and the honor of being able to call yourself a rifle platoon commander.

  2. It takes one to lead and many to follow. Which do you want to do?

  3. you can also do ROTC and work on your masters for 2 years and then commission.  at least for the army.  i imagine teh other services have similar programs as well.

  4. Liked stated above, you could try to get a ROTC scholarship to get your Master's Degree or attend OCS.

Benefits of being an Officer vs. Enlisted

    1. Leadership and command opportunities from platoon to company and on and on (you get to be part of the decision-making process)

    2. Pay/quality of life

    3. Management skills carry over into the civilian world

    -Army Officer and Pilot

  5. Yes, with a college degree.

  6. Anyone trying to talk you out of OCS and enlisting instead is shucking and jiving you worse than Barak Hussein Obama is doing to the USA trying to get elected!
