  2. Its fun and its good exersise for the horses

  3. It's a great way to build confidence and you can make friends that share a common passion with you.

  4. it is fun.  And the friends you meet and make.  The competition is great and to see how your horse compares and see how he/she changes and progresses, but the people you meet are some of the best in the world.  I have been friends with some of my fiercest competitors for over 50 years.

  5. Its a way for both you and your horse to improve. You can experience of being in front of a larger crowd, your horse experiences a new environment and you can also learn what you really need to improve on.

It is also a great way to meet new friends who share the same love as you, and not to mention you get a chance to win beautiful ribbons. Its also a fun experience too.

  6. -its fun

    -gain experience

-lets your horse experience new enviroments

-bit of a time to show off how gorgeous your horse is

-you feel really good when you win a rosette

-if you get quite good, then you can win money

-can meet loads of new friends who share the same interest as you

  7. I would say that horse showing has lots of benefits for both you and the horse.

    1. First, the horse learns to control itself in a loud, populated area. It learns to keep calm even if there are lots of people and noise.

    2. Second, it gives the rider and horse something to look foreword to. A goal to complete. I personally don't do well with goals, but I know some people do.

    3. Horse showing helps riders learn more about the animal. In a conformation class it certainly helps to know a little about a horse's conformation, doesn't it?

    4. Horse showing also helps give riders some sense of good sportsmanship. I certainly dont walk away with ribbons at every show and I'm ok with that.

    5. Horse showing is fun! At least I think it is!

Here are some ideas as to why I think horse showing has great benefits.

  8. Showing should be first and foremost fun. You can also win money (and what horse person doesn't need a little more of that!), and meet other horse-people who could teach you alot.

Also, your horse benefits, too. Not only does the show atmosphere give the horse experience to different places and horses, but it teaches them to focus on their work and trust you despite what's going on around them. This will help in every aspect of riding, even trail horses. It also increases the value of your horse by putting "miles" on them. If you were ever to sell, having show experience makes them worth alot more.
