  1. Wow, "Thai men don't like me" that's a pretty hostel answer. Is that in response to this question, or did I miss something?

  2. The biggest advantage is the exposure to different cultures, and having a broader world view than most kids raised in the west.  I would imagine that kids raised here will be more tolerant than their western counterparts.

Additional benefits would include, the likelihood of being bilingual, a fostered ability to adapt to different environments, increased self confidence.

To be sure, it carries a fair number of drawbacks, but the overall experience is good for the kid... or at least I hope so... I am raising a daughter here.

  3. Asia is the worlds market place with a high demand for smart people. I know its Thailand and not China or Japan, but getting that asian culture in their lives and making them bilingual will put your kids 12 steps in front of most of the worlds population. I know families who have raised their kids in Thailand, Korea, or Malaysia, and their kids benefit from it by knowing 2 or more languages, having a background in Asia, and you can also find really nice private school their for not a ton of money. I have been to Bankok, only for a few days, and it looks like a great place to live in and raise kids also.

Good luck I hope it works out.
