  1. Builds cardio ability. Tones muscles. Lengthens the look of muscles. Great way to exercise without putting strain on joints like running can for some.


  2. swimming is one of the few sports that work every muscle in your body.your muscles become very toned, if it's an outdoor pool you can get a nice tan! You lose 700 to 900 calories an hour swimming where as an hour on an elliptical will have you lose around 500 or 600. It will strengthen your cardiovascular system and help you build up more stamina and endurance. swimming is good sport people with asthma because of the moisture. although you sweat about twice the amount you would sweat doing any other sports (weird huh?) you cant feel yourself sweating! Also swimming is a life sport, you can do it until you die, unlike soccer, football, baseball, rugby, hockey, figure skating or gymnastics where you can only do it for so long. In my humble opinion, swimming is the best thing for your body out there :]

  4. Swimming doesn't put pressure on your joints like running does and it builds muscles, so you look lean, not like the hulk =) All the strokes use different muscles, so you're strong all over. I'M IN LOVE WITH IT. It's so relaxing and it's also very good for your heart. It also works on posture, flexibility and endurance.
