Benefits-paying back money while money is being taken off?

i owe money to income support from about a 7 week length due to overpayment. im now on a single rate which is fine. income support will take about tenner off and itll be like 6months sort of before my debt is paid. i have some money saved but does anyone know if i can pay them from my bank money they have not taken off whilest they are taking it off if that makes sense.

  1. They like to take it off your award that way they know they definately get it back.  


  2. if you have an overpayment they will take it off your benefit to ensure they get the money back. You could offer to pay it in a single payment but why loose money in bank interest if you don't need to. They will take the view that you have received the money in error and they il decide how much is to come off and will just keep taking it until you have paid back what you owe them.

  5. It is an automatic deduction from your benefit. They are certain, that way, that you will repay the debt.
