Benesova/ Strycova defeat Bratchikova/ Klemenschits in the quarterfinal of 2011 Barcelona Ladies Open
Czech pair of Iveta Benesova and Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova defeated Czech/Austrian pair of Nina Bratchikova and Sandra Klemenschits in two sets 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinal at the 2011 Barcelona Ladies Open. Benesova and Strycova
took just forty nine minutes to undo their opponents.
The Czech pair took early lead and broke their opponents in the fourth and second game, taking a 6-3 lead in the set. Bratchikova and Klemenschits were unable to hold their serve and couldn’t break back timely. The Czech pair on
the other hand was having a great co-ordination throughout the match and they were never been broken by their opponents.
Benesova and Strycova delivered 54 percent of the first serves and converted 67 percent of them into points. Bratchikova and Klemenschits on the other hand hit 50 percent of the first serves, winning 45 percent of points on first
serves and 27 percent of points on their second serves respectively. The Czech/Austrian pair saved two of the four breakpoints in the first set. Whereas the Czech pair was extremely good, converting five of the seven break points they faced to clinch the first
set with a 6-3 score line.
After winning the first set, Benesova and Strycova started playing better, breaking their opponents in the set with a 6-1 score. The Czech/Austrian pair fired in 67 percent of the first serves in the second set, capturing 50 percent
of points on first serves and 14 percent of points on their second serves. The Czech pair on the other hand, kept their first serve percentage at 81 percent and won 77 percent of the points on their first serves and 67 percent of the points on their second
serves. The Czech pair saved 100 percent of their break points to close the match with a breadstick
The Czech pair will face Taiwanese/American pair of Chang Kai-Chen and Jill Craybas in the semifinal of the tournament. Kai-Chen and Craybas edged past the Russian/Kazakh pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Yaroslava Shvedova in the
second match of the quarterfinal to make it this far.
