Benfica's Jardel in contention to start against Sporting Lisbon – Report
Benfica’s Jardel is reportedly in contention to start the game against Sporting Lisbon. The Brazilian is amongst the defenders who are vying a place in the starting line-up, due to the absence of captain Luisao and could be favoured by Jorge Jesus ahead
of Ruben Amorim and Miguel Vitor.
Lisbon giants, Benfica, were struck with a big blow when skipper, Luisao, limped off at Old Trafford after suffering an injury. The Selecao International being one of the most important players for the club, was required for the game against Sporting.
However after conducting extensive tests, the medical staff have revealed that the defender will be out for a considerable amount of time and will definitely miss this weekend’s derby.

Yesterday during Benfica’s training session; the tactician reportedly played both Garay and Jardel together and tested their mettle to see that if they could work alongside each other in the match.
Jesus has allegedly been satisfied with what the duo had to offer and given that the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricky-van-Wolfswinkel-c31131 will be playing against them, the defence will have to be at their very best.
However without their main man, it remains to be seen whether Benfica are able to quell the threat of Portugal’s best attacking line. If they are able to do so, it will pile the pressure on their rivals and help them gain an advantage in the title race.
