Benfica eye Nicklas Bendtner as a replacement for Oscar Cardozo
Benfica have identified Arsenal forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726, as replacement for Oscar Cardozo, who is being tracked by Dynamo Kiev, according to reports.
Ever since his arrival from Newell Old Boys in 2007, Cardozo has been a revelation for the Lisbon-based club. His glittering performances have not only seen him bamboozle defenders with his array of mesmerizing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Skills-c40539, but he has also topped the scoring
charts in the Portuguese Primeira Liga as well.
Although the attacker didn’t quite live up to the standards he set last campaign, mostly due to niggling injuries, 24 goals in 42 appearances is still a very good haul.
His obvious talents have long been touted as far too good for Portugal’s top flight and although he was being monitored by several big clubs, a transfer never materialized for the 28-year-old.
But at the prime of his career, things have finally gone his way and now he is on the verge of completing a move to Ukrainian Premier League giants, Dynamo Kiev.
With his departure imminent, Benfica have set their sight on the Arsenal misfit, Bendtner. The Danish International has never managed to break into the first team at Emirates. But luring the striker might not be easy as the Portuguese giants will face competition
from German and English opposition.
Bendtner is on the move and that has been confirmed.
“Nicklas is 100 per cent open now to a change of clubs. He has made his decision and he has told it to Arsenal. Nicklas needs to be playing regularly from the start, so, sadly, he must leave.” A statement issued by Bendtner’s father read.
The player’s father is far from happy with limited first team opportunities but seemed excited with the options at hand.
“He wanted to finish the season first, so no-one could say he didn’t fight for a first-team place right until the end. There is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 interest from both English and German clubs, and Bayern Munich were after him, earlier. It’s very exciting.” He concluded.
While Bendtner has not featured regularly for the Gunners, his 28 goals in 58 appearances are still good considering that he plays in arguably the best league in the world.
But to acquire his services, the Eagles will have to dig deep into their pockets and hope that the Dane chooses Estadio da Luz as his destination instead of the Allianz Arena.
