Benfica refused to sign CSKA Moscow's Vagner Love – Primeira Liga News
Benfica turned down the opportunity to sign CSKA Moscow striker, Vagner Love, according to reports. The Brazilian has been linked with the likes of FC Porto in recent months, but it can be revealed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Jesus refused to acquire his services despite
the player’s agent offering a concrete proposal.
Vagner Love, 27, has been quite unsettled at Arena Khimki ever since making a loan switch to Palmeiras in 2009.
The forward was signed by the Russian outfit in 2004 and was having a decent career with the Koni until the club hit woeful form in 2009. Scoring 78 times in 157 appearances, it was a good return by the attacker; however CSKA decided to farm him out in light
of their poor results.
Firstly the Selecao International was acquired by his old club, Palmeiras, on a campaign long deal. However off the field problems resulted him in making the switch to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Flamengo-c39361 in 2010.
While his stock was reducing every term, the front-man proved his worth to his Russian employers, as he netted a late winner upon his return against bitter rivals, Spartak Moscow.
Despite his goal scoring exploits, Vagner Love has found himself in a situation where he is unwanted by his current club and cannot seem to find potential suitors.
The Army men have made no secret of their desire to sell the Brazilian International and club president, Yevgeny Giner, revealed his side’s decision to part ways with the player.
Speaking to reporters, the official said that the Armeytsy Moskvy were putting up their prized asset for sale and will start listening to offers in November.
"We’re chasing a forward who seems to be very promising. I don’t think this should have a direct connection to Vagner – we need four forwards in the squad anyway.”
"But we really intend to let http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vagner-c35793 go – after eight [sic] years spent in one place abroad you really need to change team. The negotiations will begin in November, when we’ll understand what players are leaving, what we need to change and which problems
we need to solve in the near future,” he said.
With his time seemingly over in the Russian Premier League, Vagner Love’s agent Dionisio http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Castro-c8590, offered his client’s services to Lisbon giants, Benfica.
The representative reportedly contacted the Estadio da Luz hierarchy and presented them with an opportunity to acquire the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Palmeiras-c40165 man. However it is thought that the Eagles’ officials rejected the proposal, citing that the player did not fit their
age criteria and that his wage demands were also quite high.
Benfica’s arch-rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186, were also allegedly chasing the striker during the summer transfer window; however a move failed to materialize. But given the recent developments, the Dragons may choose to try their luck again, when the window re-opens
in January.
