The young winger has expressed his delight after putting pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Primeira Liga giants.
Reports from Estadio da Luz confirm that Benfica have successfully completed the signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede winger, Ola John, in a deal believed to be in the region of nine million Euros.
The promising youngster has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the Eagles until the summer of 2017. In addition, his contract includes a 45 million Euros release clause as well.
The 20-year-old, who started his professional career at De Grolsch Veste in the summer of 2010, performed brilliantly in the recently concluded 2011/12 campaign. Netting seven goals while amassing 15 valuable assists, the highly-talented
winger proved to be a constant menace throughout the season for every opposition.
However, it is believed that the youngster impressed the Primeira Liga outfit during his side’s clash against the Benfiquistas in the UEFA Champions League play-offs round.
John was extremely delighted after agreeing terms with the Portuguese giants and revealed that he is eager to ply his trade at Estadio da Luz.
“It will be fantastic; I am extremely excited to play in front of 65,000 people. I have played here before and know that the environment is very energetic”, John was quoted as saying to the Portuguese media.
The Dutch winger went on to insist that Benfica have a nice squad and stressed that playing alongside http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 Cardozo will help him a great deal.
“I think they are the best in the squad and it will be nice for me to play along with two of the best players. The club always competes for silverware and it will be nice for me to deal with the immense pressure”, John added.
The youngster also insisted that he watched the Eagles 2011/12 Champions League campaign, and is of the view that they played brilliantly.
“I saw their matches against Manchester United, Zenit St. Petersburg and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. They played brilliantly against all these teams; never showing that they are a weak team”, John concluded.
