Brazilian defender Luisao is set to reach another milestone in his glittering career. The lanky defender will reach the iconic 300 appearances mark in his career when his side, Benfica, take to the pitch for Benfica against Feirense.
Luisao, 30, has grown into one of the most dependable centre-backs in the league following his move from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cruzeiro-c38870 eight years ago. The Selecao stalwart has been omnipresent in the Eagles squad and is the current club captain as well.
While the 30-year-old has never been able to cement his place in the national team, playing for the Lisbon outfit has not proven to be hindrance in his career. Known for being a tough tackler, Luisao has comfortably confirmed his place as a club legend,
all in a very short period of time.

Speaking to reporters, Luisao remained as humble as ever but couldn’t suppress his delight after being close to breaking the 300th game mark.

While the Brazilian International will be making history when he dons the iconic Red jersey at Estadio da Luz on August 21, his time at the Lisbon-based side has been not been without controversy and he was almost on the brink of signing for Paris Saint-Germain
this summer.
The Parisians, backed with the billions of their new owners, had targeted Luisao to lead the new regime at Parc des Princes and were willing to cough up nearly €12 million to land their man.
For a while, the former Juventus-SP man was open to the possibility of a switch but later on changed his mind and is now on course to becoming a Benfica immortal, much to the delight of the fans.
Although still playing at a very high standard, Luisao is edging ever closer to conclusion of his career but now even when he does hang up his boots, he will still be fondly remembered by coaches and fans alike for all the contributions he made.
