Benfica start negotiations for Joan Capdevila, look to send Roberto on loan to Real Zaragoza
Benfica have initiated talks with Villarreal for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joan-Capdevila-c18631
Benfica have reportedly started negotiations with Villarreal for their veteran defender and are eager to land Capdevila in an attempt to bolster their defensive options.
The Eagles have been searching for a top quality replacement ever since the departure of Fabio Coentrao to Real Madrid. Although they have acquired http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ezequiel-Garay-c13071 as a part of Coentrao’s sale, the Argentine plays in the centre-back position and would out
of his depth if he were to be drafted as a full-back.
While they have been linked with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-Ansaldi-c9499 and are allegedly close to completing the transfer of Danilo, Capdevila is seen an ideal target because of his experience and proven abilities to make it on the biggest stage.
The wingback was an integral part of the Spanish national team that conquered the European Championships and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Though now past his prime at the age of 33, Capdevila would still be of some use to the Reds and could add more composure to the backline. Better yet still, with his feats at International stage, he could be a mentor to all the younger players at the helm.
While he is yet to be challenged for a starting place in Vicente Del Bosque’s legendry side, the emergence of Jose Catalá at Villarreal has seen the Spaniard fall down the pecking order.
Now in dire need of playing time, the former Espanyol man would be open to a switch to Estadio da Luz and could be enticed by the prospect of leading the team following Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the Benfica Captain, Luisao.
Sources close to the clubs have said that the negotiations are fully underway and an agreement is expected to be reached in the upcoming days.
Roberto to return to Real Zaragoza on loan again
The out-of-favour goalkeeper, Roberto, has fallen down the ranks following the signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eduardo-c12034 from Italian Seide, Genoa. A loan deal for the former Recreativo man is expected with a move to Real Zaragoza and
Atletico Madrid on the cards.
The former Spanish U-21 International has largely been touted as a failure during his spell in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, where he made some high-profile errors.
While he retains some of his shot-stopping abilities, it appears as if a change in style of play did not suit him well and it has severed his once fine reputation.
The Lisbon outfit are now keen to loan him back to his native country and having had a previous loan spell with Real Zaragoza, they are the ideal destination. But Atletico Madrid have also emerged as contenders for his signature and have lodged their interest
following the exit of their star goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463, to Manchester United.
A loan deal for Roberto is highly likely to happen and the player may himself favour the move in order to boost his morale.
