Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo offered to Olympique de Marseille – Ligue 1 news
Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille have set a deadline of three days for all interested clubs to sign Argentine international Lucho Gonzalez from the Rhone club.
Gonzalez has been linked with a move away from the Stade Velodrome since the start of the summer transfer window but the club’s insistence of not listening to any offers below 13 million Euros for the 30-year-old midfielder is making it hard for the other
clubs to sign the player.
La Liga side, Malaga and Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce were reportedly keen on signing the former FC Porto man but Marseille’s stance on not lowering their asking price has now seemingly cooled off interest from both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026.
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 Cardozo who is currently playing in the Portuguese league with Benfica. However, the club’s direction quickly rejected the proposal.
Benfica are holding out for 25million Euros for Cardozo’s signature. According to Blogolo, Marseille rejected the proposal as the club feels that the asking price is too steep for a 28-year-old striker. Furthermore, even after the sale of Gonzalez, Marseille
might find it hard to pay such a price for the South American.
Though Marseille coach Didier Deschamps is a long-term admirer of the former Newell’s Old Boys striker, but knows that the Rhone club is not in a position to splash the cash and offer a lucrative contract to the highly-rated striker.
Last season was Cardozo’s worst season in Europe according to his standards. Cardozo scored only 12 league goals as Benfica surrendered their league title to eventual champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186. However, the South American still enjoys a good profile in Europe and
if he leaves the club, Benfica are sure to get a handsome amount for the transfer.
Oscar Cardozo is also keen on playing in the Ligue 1. While talking to the media, Cardozo’s agent said, “If an offer of a good French club comes, we will study it very seriously. Oscar and I like the French championship.”
However, it seems that though Cardozo is an admirer of the Ligue 1, Marseille might not be the striker’s destination as the Ligue 1 giants’ finances don’t allow them to make big-money signings – at least for this summer.
