Portuguese giants, Benfica, are reportedly going to reward their star player, Pablo Aimar, with a new contract in the upcoming months. The midfielder has been a pivotal player for the Reds and they are ready to offer him a new deal despite his age.
Ex- http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 International, Pablo Aimar, has been one of the most consistent and attack minded players in Liga Sagres. The 32-year-old signed for Benfica in 2008 and has since then lighted up the Estadio da Luz with his scintillating skills.
Plying his trade as an attacking midfielder, the former Real Zaragoza man utilizes his inert ability on the ball to drift past defenders and unlock even the sternest of back-lines. Also forming a lethal partnership with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 Cardozo, Aimar hasn’t scored
on a regular basis but his game encompasses much more than finding the back of the net.
With him playing at the helm, the Eagles managed to win the Primeira Liga in 2010, overhauling the challenge of arch-rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186. While they did not replicate their feats the following campaign, Benfica have remained in contention for title, partly
due to Aimar’s attacking talents.
In order to reward the player for his commitment on the pitch and secure his services for another season or so, the Lisbon outfit are preparing to offer the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 man a new contract in the upcoming months.
Aimar’s current deal expires next year and the club are looking to extend his stay at the Stadium of Light for at least another term. Although details of the alleged proposal are not revealed, it is expected that both parties will be able to reach an agreement.
However the midfielder recently made comments regarding his future in the game and revealed that although he was determined to play, he knew that his career cannot last forever and he would have to quite eventually.
“I do not know. I would not want to continue playing for some extra factor, I just would not. I respect those who do, but I have the clarity or intelligence to quit football and not allow the football to leave me,” he said.
While Pablo Aimar might be considering retirement after the conclusion of the season, he is still of immense value to Benfica and they will be determined to sign him up for another year.
