Benfica to secure Oscar Cardozo's future with new contract – Primeira Liga News
Portuguese giants, Benfica, will secure the services of their star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Oscar-c28720 Cardozo on a long-term basis, as the club are allegedly close to offering him a new deal. The Paraguayan has been linked with a multitude of top clubs in recent months, but
the Eagles are keen to keep him in Lisbon.
Benfica’s Oscar Cardozo has been one of the most talked about players in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. The attacker moved from Newell Old Boys in 2007 and since then he has been leading the line at Estadio da Luz.
Although he was not at his mercurial best last term, the forward netted an impressive tally of 23 goals. However that was hardly comparable to the 38 goals he scored the previous season, in which he also propelled the Reds to the league title.
This campaign his displays have garnered the attention of clubs from all across Europe, with Dynamo Kiev and Besiktas expressing an interest in signing him during the summer. However a move is yet to materialize as Benfica have insisted that their prized
asset is not for sale at any cost.
Manager, Jorge Jesus, usually shapes his formation around the 28-year-old and has fought tooth and nail to keep him at the club.
With the team looking to win back their Liga Sagres crown, Cardozo‘s presence will be imperative and for that the Benfica hierarchy are reportedly looking to offer him a new, more lucrative contract.
His current deal is expiring in the near future and the Lisbon outfit are ready to offer him a new deal, with an improved salary plus more added benefits.
