Benfica midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruben-Amorim-c31829 is currently working to maintain his fitness and will seek a transfer away from the club, after being dropped due to disciplinary reasons.
The 26-year-old was an integral part of Jorge Jesus’ plans at the helm last season but has been dropped from the squad after criticizing the tactician’s selection choices.
Amorim said while on International duty that the coach did not want to him to feature in the team but he was glad that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paulo-c29431 Bento called him up for two games.
"It is the choice of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Jesus and we have to respect it. I always try to play; but he is the one who decides. It doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of this or that player. In the opinion of Jorge Jesus, I shouldn't play in Benfica. But I'm glad to see Paulo Bento doesn't think this way!” the former Belenenses man was quoted as saying.
Although this saga soured relations between the two, it did not lead to any sanctions or punishment from Benfica. Jesus did not utilize the player too often and in the game against Rio Ave told him to warm up but did not let him on the field.
Amorim then refused to train under him and was the subject of disciplinary charges from the Lisbon giants. As he is not currently training with the team at Estadio da Luz, the Selecao International has been maintaining his fitness on his own in Almada.
His future at the Stadium of Light is all but over and he is likely to sign for a new club this winter. According to reports, the player has attracted the attention of Italian club Genoa and they could place an offer for him before the transfer window closes.
As he is not being used at Benfica, the club should accept any proposal that comes their way and let the player seek greener pastures. Besides the Serie A, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ferreira-c13712 and Panathinaikos have expressed interest in luring him to the Olympic Stadium.
