Beng Hong Kuan trounces Deeneshsing Baboolall to grab Men’s Singles title at Mauritius International
Malaysia’s Beng Hong Kuan showed his superior class when he easily grabbed Men’s Singles title after trouncing his local opponent Deeneshsing Baboolall in the final battle at Mauritius International 2012 on Sunday, June 17, in Mauritius.
The in-form Beng Hong, who was the top seed in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, showed his class as he proved too strong for Baboolall and won the title in an emphatic fashion.
It was a one-sided fight for the Malaysian who was on a completely different while playing against the shuttler from Mauritius and easily registered a comprehensive victory by ending up the fight in straight sets with a huge margin.
On the other hand, the second seeded Baboolall found an ominous start as he could not do much to stop his higher ranked Malaysian rival from making an incredible progress on the score board. He failed to show his brilliance in the court and lost the final
contest with a one-sided score on the board.
In the first game, it Beng Hong who showed his class by putting up thrilling show of top class badminton as he played impressive smashes and delicate net shots which left his rival under utter dismay as he could not counter the tactics of the Malaysian.
Until the one-minute break, the higher ranked Beng Hong was sailing smoothly on the score board while remaining far ahead of his rival.
After the break, Beng Hong continued his flawless play without leaving any room for his lower ranked opponent and eventually bagged the first game with a stunning 21-11 score on the board.
In the following game, Baboolall tried to show his aggression by hitting the bird hard from the base line of the court but failed to disturb the defence of his Malaysian opponent and remained trailing on the board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the top seeded Beng Hong remained calm and collected in the court as he did not commit any mistake and won the second game easily in a lopsided manner with a huge difference of 21-8.
The impressive Malaysian shuttler won the final battle in two games with an inspiring 21-11 and 21-8 margin on the score board.
