The Group A match in the ongoing Ranji Trophy between Bengal v Hyderabad (India) turned out to be a spectacular delight for the bowlers from both sides, as they were rewarded handsomely, while the batsmen had a nightmare at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Bengal, who chose to field made inroads in the sixth over of the day when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shami-Ahmed-c2496 hit timber, bowling-out PA Reddy for five. By this time Hyderabad had scored only 14 runs.
The second-wicket partnership between K Sumanth and GH Vihari, which led the side to 32, was broken by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pratap-Singh-c2209 who nabbed the latter after he had scored 15 runs.
K Sumanth’s partnership with BP http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Markasakkam-Sandeep-c74795 was productive, as it took the score to 52, before Sumanth was clean-bowled by Pratap Singh with 25 runs off his bat.
Singh, then went on to remove Sandeep, who fell after scoring ten runs with his side sitting on 58.
Losing half of their batting line-up was a matter of great concern for Hyderabad as they were heading towards a disappointing end to their innings.
With 74 runs on the scorecard, PJ Jhala, who had trouble middling the ball after facing 19 deliveries, was removed by Mondal for three runs.
Batting first was certainly difficult for any side today, unfortunately for Hyderabad, they were on the receiving end as they succumbed after posting a regrettable score of 115 in 37.1 overs.
From Bengal, Shami Ahmed was the alpha with four wickets to his name, backed by V Pratap Singh, who dismissed three batsmen.
Bengal then received a rude welcome in the middle when they lost their first wicket with only three on the board, as RB Banerjee faltered without opening his account.
While http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arindam-Das-c1077, jabbed an unbeaten innings of 37 backed by a 20-run knock from SD Chatterjee, the next six batsmen were an epic fail as they were all dismissed without scoring in double figures with their side ending the day on 79 for eight.
