Bengals' linebacker Keith Rivers’ injury rules him out for current season – NFL News
The Cincinnati Bengals are in trouble again with a latest injury scare, this time their linebacker Keith Rivers is out due to a wrist injury not for just a game but for whole current season.
Rivers had a surgery on his right wrist. Reports of the latest tests however have confirmed that the player has not been able to recover fully. Therefore, he has been declared unfit to play for rest of current season of National
Football League (NFL), American football's premier league.
This is for the first time that Rivers will miss out a straight season for his injury. He had expressed hopes for his return at some point in current season.  The latest confirmation of his inability to recover timely have has
dashed all his optimism.
Bengals have confirmed that their linebacker will not be available to join them in rest of current season. He is Bengals' first round pick.
Keith Rivers had suffered injury in July this year, and has not played a single game or practice since. He had a surgery to rectify his injury in the same, July. It had reportedly gone well. His recovery however has continued to
be delayed. The player consequently had been place on Bengals injured reserve list since then, and will continue to be at same position for current season, atleast.
Bengals had been allowed a three-week exemption on their roster for the player. It however did not work out for them as Rivers failed to recover. The exemption was ended on Tuesday and the team management has decided to keep him
on IR list.
The player, who overall was ninth pick in 2008's draft season, has suffered a chain of injuries since his joining of professional football league. His jaw was broken earlier in the same season when he had played as rookie. He had
missed three games in 2009 after having suffered a calf injury.
He again suffered a foot injury during last year but somehow managed to play 15 games before being ruled out completely.
The Cincinnati Bengals 7-4 are just behind American Football Conference (AFC) north division leader Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. They are keeping their hopes for playoffs well alive.
