Bengals defeat Browns 23-20 on Sunday – NFL Recap Week 12
The Cincinnati Bengals cruised through their much needed victory 23-20 over the Cleveland Browns to stay just behind the division leaders Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers in the American Football Conference (AFC) north
division.
It was all Bengal's Adriel Jeremiah (A.J.) Green showdown at the end that made a difference in the game between Bengals and their close rivals Browns on the past Sunday.
Green's injury had forced him to be at the sideline until last few minutes of the game during past two matchups. He on the Sunday was finally up and running, after having recovered from his knee injury, and it was his play that
made the difference in the final moments of the game.
A mid-field catch to follow a 51 yards play by Green in the last minutes was enough for the Bengals to inflict a 23-20 defeat on the Cleveland Browns.
"I like my chances with A.J.," rookie quarterback Andy Dalton said. "You just put it around him and he makes plays. He's a special player."
Bengals' coach said that he was amazed by Green's performance. It was because of his performance that he was the fourth pick in the draft, he said.
"That's why he was the fourth pick in the draft," Coach Marvin Lewis said. "He's the best first-round draft pick I've ever been around. He continues to amaze me. He's a phenomenal athlete."
Cleveland Browns meanwhile were given boost by the return of Peyton Hillis. Hillis had missed six games in a row with a hamstring injury. He showed his skills by carrying 19 times for 65 yards to help Browns pile up 20 points.
This was the second time in the season that the Browns scored 20 and more points.
They however wasted an earlier opportunity to score a lead against the Bengals. A botched up snap, second time in the current season, wasted their chances of scoring lead over their rivals.
Despite some good play in the game and wasted opportunities, all odds were in favour of Bengals given the fact that they have historically dominated browns. They have won 12 of the 15 games played between them. This included six
of seven games at Paul Brown Stadium.
